Ted’s Grooming Room Lancaster Place Review

By Adam Monday 24th Jul, 2017

It seems these days there’s an endless choice when it comes to gentlemen’s barbers – do you opt for a local, no frills joint, or push the boat out and get the Midas touch that breaks the bank?

Ted’s Grooming Room may just be what you’re looking for, but it’s definitely somewhere all dapper chaps will enjoy. We visited the Lancaster Place branch just over Waterloo Bridge, one of 11 in the city, but whilst I took the photos, Adam took the pleasure in a fresh wash and cut.

Each branch has quirky, vibrant décor with a touch of luxury thrown in, synonymous with the Ted Baker brand. At Lancaster Place, old aerials are cobbled together with neon lighting to create an over-hanging centerpiece as you walk in, and traditional spinning barber poles are combined with sharp angled mirrors and old TV’s to create a real contrasting atmosphere. It turns out this spot is just around the corner from the original home of the BBC, so the silver screen has certainly inspired the interior here.

There’s a menu of choices but Adam had the “Cut a Long Story Short” option; at £32, this started with a full wash, cut, second wash, hot towel treatment and massage and even included that classic ear flaming for added theatre.

The classic Turkish haircutting experience is complimented with a drinks menu too, including Efes lager and the strong, unfiltered Turkish coffee that will certainly keep you ticking over nicely.

If you’re looking to book an appointment, the Mortimer Street branch is the place to go, otherwise, just walk in and enjoy the treatment you choose. And ladies, can we suggest that if you’re struggling for a gift idea, vouchers are available online…
