Metcalfe’s are on a mission to take over your snack cupboard. Their new ranges are as innovative as they are delicious – looking at the snacking landscape to see where they can dominate, with the flavours and recipes they’ve perfected it seems they are in for a win.
We sampled their new wares at a tasting session, where we tasted popcorn-paired cocktails, Metcalfe’s canapés, snacks and mini treats. They ranged from Baked Metcalfe’s Popcorn Crisp Crusted Chicken Fingers (so moreish), Metcalfe’s Mini Strawberry & Double Cream Cheesecake Bites (very decadent) and Metcalfe’s Sweet ‘n Salt Popcorn Éclairs (absolute stunners).
But what really blew us away was the range and types of snacks they’ve branched out into. Not simply more popcorn flavours, although the Salted Caramel was the perfect salty sweet treat and I’m very difficult to please on the popcorn side. They have milk and dark choco rice cakes in regular and mini forms, an ideal not-too-naughty treat, but also popcorn cakes – the same idea and formats but with delicious popcorn in place of puffed rice, and it was hard to choose a favourite. Puffed corn ‘crisps’ have the crunch, texture and look of nachos but are far from fried, and came in delicious Cheese, Black Pepper & Lemon, and Sweet Chilli flavours. They’re definitely a contender for any diptastic evenings with guac and salsa!
What’s clear from the new ranges is that they’ve been listening to what people want, and perfecting some absolutely perfect flavour and snack combinations that I already can’t get enough of.
If you’d like to try out one of their tasty recipes, here’s one for the Salted Caramel Blondie – it’s the decadent love child of a brownie and a rice crispie cake, and you’ll love it.
