Patrón Old Fashioned

By Gary Dennis Thursday 6th Oct, 2016

As you may have seen earlier this month, the stars from fashion, film & television, music and sport were out in full force for the GQ Men of the Year 2016 Awards. The much touted future Bond, Aiden Turner, picked up best Television Actor, Most Stylish Man went to Mark Ronson and the Legend Award went to iconic Brit Michael Caine. However, from a Dapper Bar point of view, the true winner of the evening was the “El Presidenté” of Mexican liquors; Patron tequila.

Patron Tequila was the exclusive alcoholic partner of the GQ Men of the Year Awards, serving guests with signature and tailor-made cocktails at the main ceremony and the after-party. Drinks on offer were the Partonic (patron and tonic, see what they did there!), Perfect Patron Tequila, Patron Espresso Martini and a bespoke GQ Old Fashioned cocktail including Patron Añejo.

Should you wish to drink like an award winner and try the classic bourbon cocktail with a modern Patron twist, follow the below recipe to make yourself a soothing Patrón Old Fashioned:

PATRÓN AÑEJO OLD FASHIONED

  • 50ml Patrón Añejo tequila

Over a rocks glass, use a vegetable peeler to take off two strips of orange zest, making sure to express the oil into the glass. Add Patrón Añejo tequila, agave syrup, and bitters. Add ice—the biggest cubes you can find—and stir. Adjust sweetness to taste.
