One day The Dapper Chapper got invited to a press evening to celebrate the re-launch of the classic gangster film GoodFellas. You know why? It was outta respect.
More than 25 years after its shocking violence, unique style and iconic soundtrack entertained audiences across the globe, the British Film Institute in conjunction with Warner Bros. is bringing GoodFellas back to the big screen.
In a stunning 4k restoration, the gangster epic will feature at over 80 cinemas nationwide from 20 January 2017, plus will screen at BFI Southbank as part of the Martin Scorsese retrospective season taking place from 1 January – 28 February.
Scorsese’s spectacular motion picture was adapted by author Nicholas Pileggi from his best-selling true-crime book Wiseguy, the most intimate account ever published of life inside the Mafia. Packed with legendary one-liners, audiences who have never seen the film before, or fans who want the big screen experience, will revel in the brilliant performances given by the three leads, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro.
Often considered to be one of the best gangster films ever made, GoodFellas was nominated for six Oscars – with Joe Pesci winning Best Supporting Actor – and went on to win five BAFTAs.
GoodFellas is the sixth film to be re-released by the BFI in an on-going partnership with Warner Bros., which has brought 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner: The Final Cut, The Shining, Barry Lyndon and Doctor Zhivago back to cinema screens across the UK.
