The Devil’s Advocate

9 Advocates Close, Edinburgh EH1 1ND

This is a fantastic place for a touch of Saturday night sinning.

Slyly positioned down Advocates Close, just off Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, this Victorian pump house provides the perfect setting for some impressive live music (round of applause after each song rather than a knees up) and a glass of the old water of life.

Your traditional Scottish chap would certainly feel at home here, however a full dress kilt and sporran isn’t a requirement (that really doesn’t happen anymore). Instead, you should be able to appreciate a dram or two of Scotland’s and the world’s finest as this place boasts an eclectic range of Scottish Whiskies – a wee punch of their brilliant range concludes an evening out on the town perfectly.

The bar itself is an impressive centrepiece, displaying their 200 strong whiskey shelf and adding a real element of class to this venue. Manned by a host of fantastic and award-winning bar staff, with some brilliant facial hair may I add, they have a vast knowledge of the drinks on show and their genuine concern for customer well-being, warms the heart almost as much as their Whisky.
