Gold cup day is here & after posting tips to boast a significant profit after the first two days of the festival, including a whopping 25/1 winner, yesterday’s blushes were spared by Fignal Bay coming in at 7/1.
Day four is traditionally the toughest to call, with plenty of split opinions, but we are taking on some of the favourites, including the mighty Bobs Worth.
Going: Good, Good to soft in places.
1.30 – JCB Triumph Hurdle – Plinth 18/1 E/W offers good value and should do well on this stiffer track and with cheekpieces applied. Pearl Castle 12/1 E/W won his last two, particularly impressive on first occasion & now with A.P McCoy on board.
2.05 – Vincent OBrien County Handicap Hurdle – Never Enough Time 14/1 E/W the Irish horse which is well backed and offers great value. La Fontana is the other we like; 12/1.
2.40 – Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle Apache Jack 33/1 E/W. It’s our big outsider for the day but the trip should suit and we like the each way value on offer.
3.20 – Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase – Triolo D’Alene 16/1. No typo, yes, we are taking on the favourites. Of course we like Bobs Worth and Silviniaco Conti but at 2/1 and 3/1 respectively, we are on the hunt for better prices. Triolo D’Alene is improving & was good winner of the Hennessy, we think it’ll be thereabouts.
4.00 – CGA Foxhunter Chase Challenge Cup – Harbour Court 5/1 has won two major hunter chases last spring & is a very exciting prospect.
4.40 – Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys Handicap Hurdle – Vieux Lion Rouge 15/2 is three from three over hurdles and looks unexposed. Decent odds for a class act.
5.15 – Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase Challenge Cup – Two in the last, Dare Me 28/1 has good chase form when impressive and up 15lb. Our second is Tanks for That at 16/1 E/W.
