Lou Dalton LCM AW16 Collection

Lou Dalton broadened her net for inspiration away from the hustle and bustle of the city for her Autumn/Winter 16 offering. The collection looked to the island that she identifies as a home from home, Shetland.

The collection paid tribute to the workingmen of the island. Lou Dalton channelled the outerwear decisions of Shetland’s fisherman, with navy teddy fleece bomber jackets, hand knit cable sweaters and lacquered jersey blousons that would all look at home in the wet and windy conditions of the North Sea.

A key trend from LCM AW 16 was the prominence of earth tones throughout many collections. Lou Dalton effectively utilised this palette on a range of classic smart-casual designs, including the stand out tailored camel wool coat and the eye-catching teddy fur sweatshirt and pants which radiated an aura of supreme comfort.

The influence of Scottish highlands was prevalent throughout with tartan featured on numerous pieces in the collection. A John Smedley produced merino wool jumper displayed wonderful attention to detail with blurred ink markings, like those of the sheep roaming the Shetlands, included on the piece.
