Christopher Kane Autumn/Winter 2016 Menswear Collection

Making a sharp departure from their slimmer tailoring of past seasons, the relaxed, oversized collection that takes its inspiration from sports and workwear. Kane says of the collection “A wardrobe of new, casual luxury without formalwear. I wanted something strong and tough – but made sophisticated and wearable. I think it’s a collection that really reflects the world around me; it’s literally about the street”.

His words echo through each piece in the collection, from the simple, boxy shapes to the soft jersey fabrics and knits. Comfortable voluminous casualwear with reflective detailing and cropped lengths and turn ups that accentuate their size. In the denim and leisure garments feature geometric patterned hot-mix crystals, while contrasting fabrics are patchworked together to bring the worn in ‘street’ aesthetic. Nice to see are androgynous pieces that are both soft and tailored at once, the collection is extremely wearable and statement pieces are easy to mix with any wardrobe.

The stand out signature of the collection was undoubtedly the neon trim, edging its way though the collection on everything from seatbelt fabric belts to cuffs, collars and hems. Interesting statement pieces include the distinct hand-painted pieces and crushable aluminium fabrics.

A strong, fresh collection from a consistently standout designer.
