This week we spoke to Omiri Thomas, menswear fashion blogger. Omiri’s blog Omiri and a Dream has been running since December 2012. The blog showcases his unique take on tailoring and fashion interests.
Here’s the interview with the man himself.
What inspired you to start blogging?
I posted a few of my outfits on instagram back in 2012 and a few different people suggested that I start a blogging!
Who is your style icon?
Robert Redford in the 1974 adaptation of ‘The Great Gatsby’ watching this film ignited the notion that as a man you can never be overdressed, to take pride in your appearance and a love of all things sartorial.
Where do you see mens fashion going in the next 5-10 years?
I’d like to see men’s fashion grow to great heights and eventually compete with female fashion in terms of overall global value
What are your favourite designers and places to shop right now?
Balmain and Burberry are my favourite designers for sure, purely because of their attention to detail and their elegant timeless pieces! I also love to shop in brick lane market as it’s a great spot to pick up one off vintage items you can be sure no one else will have! If I can’t get to brick lane then Zara is my number 1 for high street style.
Whats your best perk of being a blogger?
Getting into runway shows at London Collections Men. It’s a very exclusive event and it’s great to see the designs up close before anyone else!
If you could travel back to any fashion decade, which would it be?
1920’s jazz age for sure.
What would you say to any aspiring fashion blogger?
Find your unique style, be bold and be consistent! Also network network network!
How do you communicate & how can people follow you?
You can find me on all social media @OmiriThomas
