LFWM: St James’s Catwalk Show

By Rikesh Chauhan Saturday 9th Jun, 2018

With London Fashion Week Men’s in full swing, a host of influencers, celebrities as well as a who’s who of menswear descended onto Jermyn Street for an unmissable catwalk showcasing some of the UK’s biggest heritage brands.

The show – which is open air and open to public throughout the day – features some of the staple brands of Jermyn Street, each of them contributing their products to create a series of wearable looks.

There’s something magical about London in the summer, especially when the city comes together to celebrate the art of fashion – from bespoke to ready-to-wear, from high tailoring to street style.

With Messrs Gandy, Biedul, Huntington-Whiteley, Huebl, Underwood and more gracing the front row, the show opened with a series of casualwear from brands including Connolly at Fortnum & Mason, Russell & Bromley, Grenson, Jigsaw, Sunspel and the London Sock Company.

The looks continued into the smarter side of casualwear, eventually going into classic tailoring. Brands included shoemakers Crockett & Jones, knitwear house John Smedley and menswear’s formidable double-barreled Hilditch & Key and New & Lingwood all contributing. The beauty of this show is that every look is meticulously crafted (by stylist Grace Gilfeather, no less) into a series of perfectly accessible, versatile ensembles.

Following the show, we took a closer look at some of our favourite brands that grace the original home of menswear. All of the products showcased on the catwalk were readily available to purchase in the stores themselves. As ever, St. James’s put on a show not to be forgotten, and which continues to go from strength to strength, season after season.
