As we prepare to start to cast our collective eye on the key pieces for men ahead of the new Spring/Summer collection, one brand we know who will deliver their own bespoke look and feel is established Swedish label J.Lindeberg.
In a key year for the brand which began life 20 years ago and with a return to the fold with now Creative Consultant and founder Johan Lindeberg, the S/S17 collection showcases a clever mix of prints and on-trend colour-ways.
What the J.Lindeberg brand does brilliantly is encapsulate a lifestyle collection that can take you from evening summer tux through to ‘Athletic Leisure-wear’ – an almost onestop shop for the man who wants to know he can get exactly what he wants from just the one brand for any occasion.
Camouflage variations in prints and woven qualities, cracked surfaces and textures add depth and tonality to a silhouette that is sleek yet relaxed. Comfort is in focus and the details are sharp and clean with hidden trimmings.
New developments include focus on technical outerwear, ultralight active suit constructions and a shirt collaboration with esteemed shirt maker Tomas Mason. Prints are either inspired by a graphic take on nature—geo-urban, or takes a sportier, active direction with textured stripes and two tone structures.
Tailoring is sharp and progressive as always, with enhanced constructions for full flexibility. Introducing the Active Tailoring featuring lightweight unconstructed blazers without seam allowances and the non-wrinkle Travel Suit enhanced with a spiral yarn twist in the weave that helps the wool return to the flat starting point.
Exclusive virgin wool qualities from esteemed Italian weavers Loro Piana and Leggiuno and new developments in linen and seersucker cotton complete the suit offering. This season’s tailored showstoppers are the waxed and water repellent tuxedo with drawstring trousers and the sophisticated yellow changé wool, mohair and silk mix suit.
Luxury fabrics, performance features and iconic J.Lindeberg design is merged in flexible and multipurpose outerwear with increased focus on 3-layer shell jackets. Layering becomes an important, smart and functional way of dressing, as the season’s change and as we live active lives that include travelling with high demands on versatility and comfort.
The bomber jacket is revitalized in camouflage weaves, in prints and in a longer version, style Tommy in a 3-layer technical stretch, whilst leather and suede in MC jacket variations is a natural and integrated part of the J.Lindeberg outer-wear offering, every season.
Denim is redefined with a wide range of different indigos and contemporary washes, including the Stay-White and Stay-Black programs, with the ability to maintain the garment’s colour, due to premium colour-fastness and liquid resistance.
The colour story is influenced by the nature that surrounds us, and presents tones of fresh green and khaki, sandy beige, straw and grey. Chambray, indigo and navy bring freshness to the palette as well as the seasonal pop colours, sophisticated yellow and saturated rose.
Accessories include a range of shoes with sporty influences, slip-on, velcro and laced sneakers, new sandal developments accompanied by classic Monk straps and laced brogues in seasonal colours. Leather bags, belts, ties and pocket squares complete the look.
