Idris Elba + Superdry Collaboration

One of Britain’s leading actors has joined forces with one of Britain’s leading fashion brands. That’s right, Mr John Luther himself, Idris Elba has teamed-up with Superdry to create a premium menswear collection.

The 250-piece winter menswear collection focuses on high-end fabrics with minimal branding and logos on show. Aimed towards men of all ages who have a penchant for designer quality at reasonable prices; incorporating both functionality and durability, for 24-hour wear.

I was challenged by the brand to put together an outfit from the Idra range and here’s how I got on:

Involved throughout the entire design process, from conception to completion, Elba cites his passion for men’s fashion and knowing how a man should dress as his main motivation for the collab, “. I’m passionate about what I do and always give 100%. If I had the opportunity to have any influence in fashion, this is it. I’m not a designer, but I’m passionate about clothes and I know how men want to look. Functionality and durability were key things for me.”

Both Elba’s and Superdry’s DNA have been ingrained throughout the collection with signature pieces such as the Leading Leather Racer jacket , the Aviator Down Parka and the Director Down Trench coat reflect the gritty and urban style of the star. The colouring of midnight blue, graphite greys and jet-blacks are present throughout the staple pieces of an urbane man’s wardrobe; tees, merino crew neck jumpers and tailored fitted shirts.

This is Superdry’s first celebrity collaboration and in teaming up with a Golden Globe winning actor, the collection, celebrating the best of British, is bound to be a sure fire hit in the world of men’s fashion.
