You may have recently seen a product review of Gentlemen’s Tonic on the blog? Well, the people behind the products invited us to their home in Mayfair to sample one of their treatments.

They opened in Mayfair in 2004 by French/American financier, Olivier Bonnefoy and offer the modern man a traditional barbershop and a variety of lifestyle and grooming services.

The name Gentlemen’s Tonic reflects two aspects: Gentlemen’s to indicate that the business is dedicated exclusively to the needs of men and Tonic to signify the restorative properties of the experience.

So onto my own experience…. I wondered up on a sunny evening, past Berkley Square to Bruton Place with punters (which included a good number of Dapper Chappers) from Guinea Grill and Griegs spilling out onto the streets. A little past the bars at 31a is Gentlemen’s Tonic.

My first impression was that it was Sophisticated and elegant but still masculine. Frank Sinatra’s ‘I’ve got you, under my skin’ was playing gently in the background which set the tone nicely. The top floor opens up to a small waiting area, the barbershop and a shaving zone. All accompanied by flat screens and dapper decorations.

I was then sat down and offered a drink and politely turned down the option to try their own GT Bloody Mary, a decision I now regret.

When asked, which service I’d like to try, there was one that caught my eye; The GT’s Signiture ‘The Traveller’. Perfect for a Dapper Chapper that travels a lot.

The service was described as a head to foot treatment that alleviates the stresses and fatigue caused by travelling in particular.

It was an unbelievable full body massage that released and eliminate tired, tense muscles. They told me it is exceptional for those who have been in the air for a while, or are permanently on the go but to be fair this would be exceptional for anyone.

We’ve already blogged about the Gentlemen’s Tonic product line which were used throughout the service. They are all designed for men’s home grooming needs and the range features a bespoke fragrance incorporating natural plant-derived ingredients, yet is free from synthetic materials and harmful chemical additives.  The current range is called Babassu and Bergamot and consists of 13 products – the ones that were used were all very nice.

The experience ended with a facial and some education from my skilled practitioner, Avril, about which products can be used to keep your skin feeling and looking good.

The service costs £115 but it’s worth every penny.

Without a doubt the best male spa treatment we’ve sampled. Easy. Hands-down.

There are a range of services available so for more information, visit & there are also locations in Dubai (Atlantic The Palm) and Hong Kong (The Landmark).
