What started as Shoreditch pop-up has now found a permanent home. The chaps behind the hugely popular crazy-golf venue Swingers have been working on a new site which has been developed over 18 months and is now hosted in a 16,000ft soft basement next to the Gherkin, right in the heart of the City.

It’s based on a quintessential English 1920’s country golf club, so of course The Dapper Chapper were interested in trying it out.

The venue encourages eating, drinking and crazy golfing hedonism, with five bars, two 9-hole crazy golf courses, called The Lighthouse and The Windmill along with a private dining area. The venue also houses three popular street food vendors in Pizza Pilgrims, Patty & Bun and Le Bab, plus a coffee counter from Nude Coffee Roasters.

Now onto the golf. It has two 9-hole crazy golf courses, The Lighthouse Course and the Windmill Course. We played the lighthouse course, which was pretty fun with each hole posing a new challenge, be that dog legs, jumps, traps & even a loop-the-loop. The course looks the part and is themed around a secret English country garden, filled with trees, ivies and wild flowers that cover the reclaimed timbers and pergolas that surround the different holes.

The Chapper I was reviewing with, who is a bachelor, commented that this is a ‘banging date venue’ because there’s enough going on to paste over any awkward silences Tinder debuts may present but it’s also not too try-hard as a venue choice.

The venue is open from midday to 1am everyday & it costs £13 for a round. The Dapper Chapper recommends – Swingers is definitely worth a visit.
