The Royal Horseguards have relaunched their stunning outdoor terrace just in time for summer. With views stretching out over Embankment you can sit back and take in the London Eye and river Thames from the comfort of a sheltered green haven.

Comfortable wicker armchairs and sofas are scattered around, with three levels of seating surrounded by beautiful plants and colourful blooms. It’s the perfect place to while away a few hours, with heated canopies and blanket available when the temperatures drop.

We tried a few of their sharing specialities, including juicy prawns, tender corn-fed chicken skewers with satay sauce and a mouthwatering teriyaki beef fillet skewer which all come on the platter. Tasty marinated artichokes, grilled asparagus with tamarind ketchup and tasty houmous with toasted pittas and olives were the perfect dishes to satisfy my vegetarian friend – or an ideal snack to share.

There’s a fantastic selection of slider platters, salads and sandwiches available for a more substantial meal – of which the ComtĂ© cheese and truffle Croque Monsieur sounds deliciously decadent!

The terrace also offers a selection of cocktails by the jug, including Pimm’s, Watermelon Gin Punch and a fresh Kiwi Blueberry Mojito. For a fizzier refreshment (that isn’t of the prosecco variety) there are also Terrace Tubs, six bottles of lagers, ciders and IPAs if your tipple is on the more savoury side.

With a chilled out ambience, attentive and friendly staff, and a beautiful environment we can see ourselves enjoying a few long afternoons lounging at The Terrace at The Royal Horseguards this summer.
