Homslice Pizza welcomed the Dapper Chapper to its newest venue on Wells Street, Fitzrovia this month. The Home Slice model is simple: classic pizza executed beautifully. New and innovative topping combinations are subtlety balanced and all served on huge 20 inch sharing pizzas.

Homeslice began as a part of the growing street food scene back in 2011. The street food explosion reminded diners what’s important when eating out: taste, textures and flavours, all at reasonable price.  Street food made food the star of the show, free from decor distractions and unnecessary intermediaries like plastic menus and nonchalant waiting staff. This heritage is clear in the stripped back warehouse feel of the restaurant and the paper serving plates which allow the pizzas, and the huge wood fire oven, to do the talking.

20 inches gives diners a lot of room to explore the Homeslice menu. We began with a half and half pizza: one side of sweet Calabrian peppers and salty Linconshire Poacher and the other half topped with slow braised goat shoulder, crisp savoy cabbage and a sumac yogurt dressing. The crisp pizza base infused with the subtle smoky flavour from the wood fire oven was the perfect constant in this meeting of the classic and creative– a trick that is Home Slice’s hallmark.

But we were not done yet. The moreish flavours of the first round drew us back to the chalk board menu, to decide on the toppings for round two. We plucked for another pizza of two halves: one classic mozzarella, tomato and salami pizza topped with rocket and parmesan, the other mushroom, ricotta and sunflower seed combo drizzled with a rich soy sauce balsamic.

We left having stuffed ourselves with yards of top quality pizza; and with beer included for under £20 each, it’s clear Home Slice understands what the pizza public want and have come to expect.
