Sake no Hana – Whisky & Chocolate Flight

By Gary Dennis Friday 30th Oct, 2015

Earlier this month, Dapper Chapper favourite, Sake no Hana, launched an exclusive whisky and chocolate flight.

The Sake no Hana whisky flight features three quality Japanese whiskies paired with chocolates created by the restaurants pastry team to specifically match and complement each other and to accentuate the natural flavours of each whisky.

The reasoning behind this whisky flight is to tell the life story behind one of the grand masters of Japanese whisky, Masataka Taketsuru, who is famous for spearheading Japanese whisky production in the early 1930’s. Mr Taketsuru also founded the whisky brand Nikka, a bottle of which is always ever-present in the Dapper Chapper bar.

The whisky flight offers the following:

– Nikka from the Barrel paired with Alto el sol chocolate

Both the blended whisky and Peruvian chocolate have a rich aroma and match through their fruity notes.

– Hibiki 17 paired with spiced kumquat and nutmeg ganache

The 72% Venezuela chocolate matches and enhances the strong, spicy notes of the blended whisky.

– Nikka Yoichi paired with a smoked salt ganache

The only milk chocolate in the flight so not to overpower the strong whisky flavour. The smoky flavour of the whisky is balanced by the smooth, creamy flavour of the ganache. Nikka Yoichi will definitely be making an appearance in the Dapper Chapper bar soon, an absolutely delightful whisky.

The whisky flight is priced at £29 and we recommend this for those of you who are perhaps whisky novices and would like to understand more about the whisky trade away from Scotland, or even if you are a connoisseur of good whisky’s and simply wish to sample some excellent Japanese varieties and beautiful hand-crafted chocolate.

The bar will also be serving a large collection of over 30 Japanese whiskies including some of the rarest Japanese whiskies in the world, four of which are not on offer anywhere else in the UK. These include; Ichiro’s Hanyu The Joker, Karuizawa 1983 Geisha, Karuizawa 1989 and Hanyu (Silent) Ichiro’s Final Vintage. There will only be one bottle of each to order from so once that last drop has been poured it will no longer be available.
