Marwood Ties & Pocket Squares

Chaps, we owe you an apology. Despite being live for over two years this is the first blog entry on a proper Dapper Chapper brand, Marwood.

The brands always been on our radar, mainly for the lace and woven ties they produce but we finally got a chance to get up close and personal.

Marwood make some of the most stylish ties in England and in recent years they’ve gained quite a lot of attention for their innovative use of lace.

They use a specialist cotton English lace called Leavers Lace made just outside of Nottingham, an area in England historically known for its lace manufacturing. I absolute love how they’ve made a fairly standard and formal item unique without losing its class. The lace square and the tie is perfect for Spring/Summer it is a way for someone to stand out and look different, but in a subtle, non shout-out way.

When the sun goes away, it’s then time for a woven tie. The woven cloth that their ties are made from is developed and produced in a historic mill in Suffolk that provides fabric to the best luxury clothing brands worldwide. They work closely with the mill to develop new patterns that originate as ink drawings or sketches & each tie is hand finished with a “bullion” knot in tonal colours to the cloth. The finishing touch that makes a Marwood tie recognisable is the “staircase” design tipping – the diamond shaped lining behind the point of each tie.

The Knitted Diamond Tie in Ice Blue is currently a Dapper Chapper favourite.

Ties are about £120 and Pocket Squares £65 but these are market leading products that you won’t regret adding to your wardrobe.
