Archie Foal
The purpose of visiting trade shows for us at Dapper Chapper is to find, or unearth brands that we may not have already heard of and to get a good old look at the latest street styles to keep ourselves informed.
Safe to say, we see many brands that catch our eye and as is the way of the world, some that really do not. One brand that did the former at the start of the year was ironically one that we didn’t have to hop on a plane to see.
Archie Foal is the name and producing luxury outerwear product is their game, and its beautiful. A brand inspired by the stunning Autumnal landscape of the Lake District and everything that goes with it – think long cold walks with friends that end in the pub with a few drams.
At the heart of Archie Foal, away from capturing that quintessentially warm English character, is a brand with a real drive and purpose to produce garments for both men and women that have longevity and wearability at their very core. The strap-line, although not publicly shouted about is ‘Buy Better, Buy Less’ – a concept that is now very much reality and a belief that clothing should stand the test of time and grow better with age.
A brand that started life in 2010, soon opening its first shop on the New Kings Road and now latterly a brand new offer in Stoke Newington, Archie Foal has zero interest in seasonal trends and fast fashion. The whole purpose to produce super luxury quality that, yes, costs a few quid, but equally carries the reassurance that whatever the piece, it will be in fine fettle once taken from the wardrobe. Archie Foal is a brand that has to be lived in and as a result of that has become as much about ‘lifestyle’ as it has about fashion or style.
Produced only with partnership knitters and factories with years of sartorial experience behind them, Archie Foal collections, as you can imagine, feature beautifully constructed knitwear, shirting and jackets featuring the finest Angora yarn and Yorkshire spun lambswool for those hardy weekend staple pieces. The A/W18 collection is no exception and we have pulled a few pieces that really float our boat…
The Errol – a stylish, fitted jacket featuring thick navy wool body and soft, rich leather sleeves, priced at a respectable £395; The beautifully constructed luxury Brody raglan sweater, in either a navy or cobalt soft-knit merino wool, priced at £235 as well as the Kennan shawl collar cardigan, perfect for those late, colder winter afternoons, also priced at £235.
