Oppermann London rebrands as Carl Friedrik
Followers of The Dapper Chapper may remember us blogging a fair bit last year about a brand called Oppermann London. They were the ones behind this cognac 25-hour bag that I love and we shot a few times last year:
Since then, Oppermann London has rebranded and now goes under the name Carl Friedrik, following a trademark dispute with another company.
Little will change with the brands products or services and they will still run as a direct-to consumer brand along with offering a lifetime warranty on their complete product range which is super rare.
Every time I have the bag with me someone will ask about it and most people are surprised to know the sub £450 price-point. Unrestricted by seasonal releases or wholesale deadlines, the brand is able to fully focus on providing quality at a fraction of traditional retail prices (their Palissy Briefcase, £395, would cost more than £1,200 if sold by a retailer).
I met Niklas Oppermann a few times last year and he’s a really nice bloke and as you’d expect very passionate about his brand. He commented: “We wanted the new brand name to not only look and sound good, but also remain personal to us. ‘Carl Friedrik’ lies close to our hearts as it is our Grandfather’s name. It similarly reflects our own heritage; that being the combination of the Swedish ‘Fredrik’ and the German ‘Friedrich’.”
New for this year, they are now making men’s backpacks. Made with Natural Vachetta leather and Italian nylon canvas, the collection’s aesthetic combines elegant craft with elements inspired by performance accessories.
Built-in features including a trolley strap, and useful add-ons include a power bank and cable organiser make these seriously good-looking pieces of kit.
The backpacks range between £265 – £295. Visit carlfriedrik.com
