London Fashion Week Men’s – St James’s Catwalk Show
The Great ‘blink and you miss it’ British Summer is the perfect opportunity to refine your wardrobe lightness and elegance; brighter colours and textures as well as new patterns and shapes. With the hazy June days of lighter nights, summer parties and of course adventures overseas ahead of us, it’s time to refresh.
Conveniently enough, nestled behind London’s Piccadilly, a bespoke hub dedicated to the very best designers and brands with concept restaurants to match has opened. Named St James’s, the region has links to the fashion industry dating back to the 17th century, but the addition of new names and brands means is a trove that is begging to be explored.
Not only is summer upon us, but London Fashion Week is too. In celebration, Jermyn Street, at the heart of St James’s, was transformed into a catwalk for the weekend. Open to the public and press alike, this event was very much in the spirit of the area, opening up the world of London Fashion Week to a broader audience and showing off the best looks that you can buy right now. We’ve picked our favourite five Spring/Summer 2017 see now buy now looks:
Look 1- Cobalt contrasts camel in this summery smart-casual combination. A bit less corporate for the office and a bold choice for the evening, we love the elegant fit of the blazer.
Look 2 – A standout choice for the boardroom, this snappy grey and blue checked suit complements the choice of oxford blue shirt and the grey-brown tie. Striking details on the jacket like the lapel design makes for a truly individual look, while a single button is an elegant touch.
Look 3 – The grey linen blazer adds a strong formal overtone to this look, but the combination of classic pinstripe shirt in blue and white and cream chino makes this an effortlessly cool summer outfit.
Look 4 – Complimentary blue and orange, and a contrasting chevron pattern with bold blue horizontal stripes make this a geometric delight. The dark navy chinos are a practical choice at the smarter end of the casual scale and a great alternative to denim.
Look 5 – A crisp oxford blue shirt paired with white linen shorts makes for a clean and sophisticated look – definitely a combination to pack for the summer escape.
The catwalk played host to leading names like John Smedley, Wonderland, and Jigsaw. Down in St James’s, these brands now rub shoulders with the likes of Smeg and Jamie Oliver so it really is a one-stop for your designed life. No traipsing across town or need to endure the clinical mall experience, only an open mind and desire to be inspired is needed.
The most important look of the day, was of course our man Rashpal Amrit.
