Acqua di Parma Colonia Quercia Review
Luxury Italian brand and Dapper Chapper favourite Acqua di Parma has released a new men’s fragrance titled Colonia Quercia.
It’s an addition to the Colonia range which is a collection of original and sophisticated compositions.
It all started in the Middle East, Colonia immerses itself in the sensory richness of a thousand-year old tradition in fragrance and reworks it with its Italian freshness to create Colonia Oud. Then, the collection went to Tuscany, Colonia Leather captures the intoxicating aromas of leather worked in ancient craft workshops, blending them with its characteristic citrus clarity. Lastly, travelling the Silk Road in the footsteps of Marco Polo, Colonia’s cheerful personality unites with the precious and sensual depths of ambergris to create Colonia Ambra. Three fragrances we’ve reviewed and rated highly.
So on the move again, Colonia is now heading towards a fascinating region, known to the most discerning travellers for the elegance and charm of its traditions and for its aristocratic history. Piedmont, with its natural heritage and lush forests, is characterised by the vigour of the Italian oak. It is from this Italian tree and its inexhaustible strength that Acqua di Parma takes inspiration for its new creation: Colonia Quercia.
As we’ve come to expect Colonia Quercia lives in an iconic art déco bottle, customised in the colours that run through the whole collection. Deep brown for the bottle made from the clearest glass and for the lid, bronze highlights for the label. All the details, materials and workmanship reflect the Italian craftsmanship that has always distinguished every Acqua di Parma creation. Colonia Quercia is available in two sizes: 100ml and 180ml.
Each bottle is packaged inside a box wholly covered by hand in fine paper in sophisticated tobacco tones. The bronze satin which enriches the inside gives the meticulous, must-have design a precious touch.
Onto the fragrance, the citrus beginning is where bergamot, lemon, petitgrain and pink pepper meet. Vibrant with geranium, cardamom and cedarwood is next. This is the prelude to the grand finale, utterly radiant, sophisticated and strong. The leading role is that of oakmoss absolute which recalls the clarity of the beginning, but with its own specific olfactory splendour which makes the composition of this Eau de Cologne Concentrée even more original. A rare ingredient, extraordinarily rich in nuances, that gives Colonia Quercia a unique persistence, clothing it in intense elegance. In the resonant base, its mossy and woody aromas are elevated by the gorgeous accents of tonka bean and the precious warmth of patchouli.
