St James’s Secret Cinema

By Alex Noble Thursday 6th Sep, 2018

With the on-screen revolution and emergence of Now TV and Amazon Prime, not to mention Virgin Tevo and Sky Box Office, it’s no wonder the population are regularly opting for a Netflix and Chill instead of going out for a romantic experience on date night.

Who else finds themselves constantly surfing through a sea of titles, with each one labelled a must see. Before long, you’re drowning in a list of episodes, with simply no idea what’s going on in the film or series you’re watching.
If that is you, do not be alarmed, you are one of many.
My advice to you, is to take a step back, and remind yourself that TV binging, twitter-related debates are not the be all and end all. Instead, recapture the magic of date night, old-school classics and perhaps  a little style inspiration from Gene Kelly.
Low and behold, St James’s Market have the perfect opportunity for you to do so this weekend, in the form of their Secret Screenings.

6th September – E.T

7th September – Singing in the Rain

8th September – Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

Sit back, relax and enjoy some real classics within St James’s open-air cinema; A proper old-school movie theatre, dressed with cinema style seating cordoned off with ropes. What’s more, all movie-goers will receive complimentary popcorn; winning!

Never was there a better opportunity to employ the cheeky yawn, arm around the shoulder manoeuvre.

Yet, let’s be serious chaps, no one wants to go straight home after the movies, so luckily for you, a couple of St James’s based restaurants are doing their bit too! Ikoyi’s blind tasting menu will be at a special price of £40 and Aquavit will be offering a complimentary smorgasbord when you order your first bottle of wine on their terrace. Or there’s the option to enjoy a casual dining experience at Duck & Waffle Local. The choice is yours but make sure you don’t miss out on this movie extravaganza!

Good luck and enjoy, chappers.

Films start at 18:30 – No tickets required.
