Chester Barrie takes inspiration from the 80s – Spring/Summer 2014

Chester Barrie’s Spring/Summer 14 collection takes its inspiration from the 1980s. Vibrant colours and distinctive patterns – from paisley to Bengal stripes – give it a distinctly new Sloane feel.

The aesthetic is very reminiscent of the fashion plates of the 1930s; a look that is both masculine and refined, mixing bold sculpted silhouettes with flawless attention to detail and flamboyant styling. It is on this canvas that the collection is drawn.

Creams, tobaccos, beige and strong summer blues are complemented by lipstick pinks, apple greens and sherbet yellows.

Lapels remain slightly curved and wider, waists are fitted whilst fabrics are crisp and dry. Classic businesswear this season has a more creative edge and is freshened with the introduction of bright stripes and interesting new block colours.

Shirts are seen in an extensive colour palette with many transferring from formal to casual with the introduction of button cuffs and structured panels for open collars. Jermyn Street influenced bold stripes and checks continue.

New for this season is the introduction of the Chester Barrie Blue range – a capsule collection of more casual pieces that will complement the brand’s formal offer. It includes linen shirts – printed and plain in strong colours such as lemon and raspberry – as well golfing and paddock jackets.
